Senior Designer

We’re seeking a Senior Designer with strong typographic sensibility and a passion for thoughtful visual systems.

Spaeth Hill is a design studio specializing in branding, wayfinding, and experiential graphic design (EGD) for the built environment. We collaborate closely with architects, developers, and real estate partners to create thoughtful, visually compelling experiences across commercial spaces.

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Designer to join our team in-person at our Washington, DC studio. Candidates must have exceptional visual design skills and a desire to contribute to a growing, highly collaborative studio environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop projects through all phases of the creative process, from concept development through final execution, in collaboration with studio leadership and team members
  • Demonstrate autonomy in both design thinking and project execution, while collaborating closely with team members to strengthen the overall creative outcome
  • Develop design solutions across a wide range of media and project types, including:
    • Branding and identity systems
    • Signage and wayfinding programs
    • Experiential Graphic Design (EGD)
    • Print and publication design
    • Presentation materials
    • Digital design, including websites and social media assets
  • Champion strong conceptual thinking, typography, composition, and visual storytelling throughout all work
  • Maintain and uphold the studio’s creative standards with a high level of craft and attention to detail
  • Contribute to internal critiques and creative discussions, helping guide projects toward stronger and more
    refined solutions
  • Effectively manage multiple project timelines, priorities, and deliverables in a fast-paced studio environment
  • Support and mentor junior team members through collaboration, feedback, and design guidance
  • Collaborate with and manage client relationships as needed
  • Effectively manage multiple project timelines and project deliverables

Qualifications

  • Exceptional typography and layout skills, with a refined sense of composition and visual hierarchy
  • Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to translate ideas into compelling visual systems
  • Organizational precision and attention to detail across all phases of a project
  • Professionalism, accountability, and strong communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a growing creative team
  • The ability to confidently present and articulate design decisions internally and externally
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an agency or studio environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative thinking, typography, and executed design systems
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience working within branding, signage, wayfinding, architecture, or environmental graphics is strongly preferred
