Senior Environmental Graphic Designer
Help shape how people experience space through branding, wayfinding, and experiential graphic design.
We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Environmental Graphic Designer to join our team in-person at our Alexandria, VA studio. The ideal candidate brings strong conceptual thinking, exceptional visual design skills, and experience developing environmental graphic design and wayfinding systems for the built environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to projects through all phases of the creative process, from concept development through implementation, in collaboration with studio leadership and team members
- Develop experiential graphic design, signage, placemaking, and wayfinding solutions for commercial and mixed-use environments
- Translate brand strategy and architectural context into cohesive environmental graphic systems and spatial experiences
- Create presentation materials, design documentation, and visualizations to communicate design intent
clearly and effectively
- Participate in site surveys, field verification, and documentation of existing conditions
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, fabricators, vendors, and installers throughout the design and
implementation process
- Develop organized, production-ready drawing packages and fabrication documentation
- Maintain a high level of craft, organization, and attention to detail across all project phases
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure thoughtful integration of graphics within the built environment
- Present design concepts internally and participate in client presentations and project meetings
- Manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables within a fast-paced studio environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, Architecture, or related field required
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in environmental graphic design, experiential graphic design, signage, wayfinding, or related disciplines
- Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Experience working with CADTools within Adobe Illustrator
- Strong typography, composition, and visual systems thinking
- A thoughtful approach to experiential design and storytelling within physical space
- Understanding of signage fabrication methods, materials, and implementation workflows
- Ability to balance conceptual design thinking with technical execution
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Professionalism, accountability, and collaborative problem-solving
- Confidence working independently while contributing within a team environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to design excellence
- Strong portfolio demonstrating experiential graphic design and wayfinding work
- Experience preparing presentation materials and production-ready files
- Familiarity with fabrication processes and architectural coordination
- Experience with SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, or similar software is preferred, but not required
- Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to project sites, as needed
