Hemphill Fine Arts
This custom desk was commissioned by Hemphill Fine Arts for their new gallery location in DC’s NoMa neighborhood. Located front-of-house, it was important that the desk be a functional work surface for the team but also act as a showpiece, and almost as another piece of art, in the gallery.
Inspired by the simplicity of the Parson’s table design by Jean-Michael Frank, we approached the design solution with a minimal and sleek aesthetic. The 18’ desk seamlessly matches the black, stained oak flooring and uses a waterfall edge to unify the piece with the space. The desk features two workstations and a central unit with sliding shelves and floating drawers for storage. Finishes include minimal drawer facades, knife-edge detailing, and recessed perforated metal panels to maintain lightness.
