CFF Annual Report 2019

Building on the success of our collaboration on their 2018 Annual Report, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) tasked Spaeth Hill with designing their 2019 Annual Report. This annual report was particularly important as it was the culmination of a landmark year for the foundation: they transitioned executive leadership, launched a new five-year strategic plan and saw huge breakthroughs in cystic fibrosis treatment research. 


The design concept highlights transition, forward momentum and energy. Uplifting community stories, bright and dramatic full-page spreads and vibrant colors are the focus of the design solution. They serve to motivate the reader and convey themes of hope and perseverance. During schematic design, the COVID-19 crisis emerged in the United States. Because people with CF are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, delivering a report that inspires and motivates became more important than ever. Traditionally a print piece, Spaeth Hill recommended the report be transitioned to a digital piece and quickly adapted existing designs to follow suit. Data was visualized in bold, graphic forms that were right at home in the new, digital-first approach.


The result is a vibrant, impactful report, brimming with optimism, that helps to serve as a beacon for progress during uncertain and somber times.
